  • Derma View Skin Analyzer Machine
Melanoma Awareness has received funding from the Plymouth Lions to purchase a machine that shows sun damage to the skin. The DermaView Skin Analyzer pinpoints problem areas, from oily skin to sun-damaged skin. Because some skin damage is hard to see with the naked eye, few have any idea of how much sun damage has occurred on their face. The DermaView utilizes ultraviolet or black light, a technology that has been used for many years as a diagnostic tool, and prints a picture of your face. Most people will be amazed and shocked at the amount of damage their skin has absorbed. The DermaView is an effective teaching tool. In our efforts to teach people to wear sunscreen, this machine will show how sunscreen actually blocks the ultraviolet rays. The DermaView is also an effective tool for other events where we have an opportunity to talk with people about the kind of sun protection they are using and to outline what behavioral changes would deter the progression of additional damage to their skin.
