PLYMOUTH ON PARADE
Saturday, September 26, 2009
Celebrate with the Plymouth community by enjoying an old-fashioned parade through City Center and an afternoon of family activities at the Plymouth Ice Center (3650 Plymouth Boulevard), Life Time Fitness (3600 Plymouth Boulevard), and Hilde Performance Center (3450 Plymouth Boulevard).
There's something for everyone with a variety of fun events that promote community spirit and pride! A 1 p.m. parade on Plymouth Blvd will be followed by free family activities (2:30-5 p.m.) at the Plymouth Ice Center/Life Time Fitness and the Hilde Performance Center.
Melanoma Awareness will be in this parade and if anyone wants to walk with us and hand out candy and brochures, please email us at melanoma@melanomaawareness.org, or call Shelly at 763-241-7858! We need to line up for the parade by noon, and the parade itself only takes about 1 hour once it starts, so the time commitment is minimal. This is a great opportunity to join us, see what we are about, and help us get the word out about this cancer!!
NOTE: This parade is televised and played on one of the community channels, so bring your energy and smiles!

7th Annual American Cancer Society
Survivor Supper
John Mosby, a Melanoma Awareness Board member, was the featured speaker at the Long Prairie, Minnesota, American Cancer Survivor Supper held on June 23, 2009. There were approximately 100 people in attendance to hear about John's son, Mark, who is a melanoma survivor.
John's son, Mark, and Keith Kamman were battling melanoma during the same time period and had very different outcomes. Keith did pass away from this disease, and Melanoma Awareness was organized to educate the public about melanoma skin cancer.
Thank you, John, for attending this event!

Melanoma Awareness participated in Plymouth on Parade and handed out brochures, stickers, and candy to over 5,000 attendees along the parade route, plus the local cable television audience. We spoke with many people who knew of someone with this cancer or had melanoma themselves. This was our second year in the parade, and we were happy to be able to speak to the crowd and continue spreading our message.
