About Us

Melanoma Awareness is is a Minnesota 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established in 2005 in honor of Keith Kamman, a talented architect and dedicated husband, father, son and friend, who passed away from melanoma at the age of 33.

Here's Keith's story

MA's mission is: To raise public awareness about melanoma, To provide moral support as well as financial support to melanoma victims and their families; and To support and promote melanoma research.

MA established non-profit status in Minnesota in 2005, and filed for Federal non-profit status in September 2006.

Why is Black the Color for Melanoma?

Melanoma means "black tumor".

Black is the color of the warrior's mood when going into battle and the melanoma patient is in a battle for his/her life.

Black is the color of our rage when we consider the lack of progress and lack of research funding we see after 25 years of the so-called "War On Cancer".
